Briars Women’s Rugby
Play Women’s Rugby at Briars today!
Briars compete in the Sydney Women’s Premiership Rugby, playing 15s and 10s rugby (April – August) on Saturday’s and the Sydney Women’s 7s series over the warmer months (September – March).
With two grades of senior women’s rugby in winter, Briars competes in the Premiership XVs and Premiership Xs competitions, providing opportunity for players from an elite level to brand new to play.
Over the warmer months Briars also compete in Elite and Development / Social competitions as a part of the Sydney Women’s Rugby 7s Series.
Briars also compete in Regional and International 7s competitions providing an opportunity to travel the world and play rugby at the same time.
Training Tuesday and Thursday nights 6:30pm at Rothwell Park, Majors Bay Rd Concord.
We have a great squad and great opportunities for players to excel as Briars Women’s Rugby continues to pave the way for the women in Sydney’s Inner West!

Rugby is a great way to get fit and meet new people
Rugby is a fun, fast and exciting game to play. You need to want to get fit and enjoy playing sport with other people. It is the ultimate team sport—fast, physical and always challenging. We love it.
The inclusion of Rugby Sevens for men and women since the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio has seen huge growth in the game. The Australian Women’s team won the gold that shows the strength of the game in Australia.

About Briars Women’s Rugby
Briars Women’s Rugby continues to grow as part of the wider Briars Rugby and Briars Sports community, fielding 2 senior and 3 junior teams in 2024.
Briars Women’s continue to provide opportunities for young female athletes to compete in Rugby 7s which is an international and olympic sport. Briars continue to build on their relationships within the rugby community to provide opportunities to experience new cultures and share the Australian culture through international tournaments.
Briars has competed against the national teams of Thailand, UAE, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India and China
Briars Women’s Rugby competes in the Sydney Women’s Premiership XVs, Xs and Rugby 7s and Sydney Junior Girls 10s and 7s competitions.
Briars has grown from 8 players in our first team and havve provided opportunity for over 150 female athletes to play Rugby 7s both domestically and Internationally.
Finishing 3rd at the world’s biggest 7s tournament, the Dubai 7s in 2023, Briars continues to compete at an elite level, building pathways to representative teams for players through a strong relationship with the Aussie 7s
